Knowing how to manage risks in nuclear
Description
Whereas civil nuclear has implemented the precautionary principle which is interpreted as a principle of action (adoption of efficient and proportionate measures aiming at preventing a risk of severe and irreversible damages at an economically acceptable cost), on an other side, many nuclear opponents consider this principle as a principle of inaction (the possible consequences of a nuclear accident are so severe and irreversible that they overshadow the probability of the accident). After having noticed that no other hazard has ever been studied as much as this one, the author reviews and briefly comments various aspects: protection against radiations, accident prevention, introduction from the design of elements aimed at limiting consequences, waste management, risk quantitative assessment, risk drastic reduction, maintaining a global view on risks, aspects of collective psychology, ethical aspects, denial of an ideology of fear
