Damping of electromagnetic wave resonances in a strongly magnetized plasma

Description
Using the wave mechanical version of the dielectric tensor for a strongly magnetized plasma, a dispersion equation for electromagnetic waves is derived. A comparison between quantum mechanical and classical results shows a damping of classical resonances and an additional mode near the electron gyrofrequency in the quantum mechanical treatment.
