Description
CR-39 Solid State Nuclear Track Detector (SSNTD) is one of the polymers which has come into use for fast neutron dosimetry in recent years due to its sensitivity to protons. The damaged tracks produced in CR-39 SSNTD sample by the nuclear recoil protons are electromechanically etched and counted to evaluate the neutron dose received by personnel. This paper describes an advanced PC based image analysis system developed under Windows operating system for automatic counting of the damaged tracks using a digital camera with TWAIN interface. As an alternative, provision exists for interfacing an analog camera using a PCI frame grabber with Video for Windows (VfW) driver for the computer. (author)
