Evaluation and sources of Black Carbon (BC) in Hauts-de-France between 2015 and 2020 - Study conducted between 2015 and 2020

Description

The main objectives in this study are to: - validate and optimize the measurement of BC and its main sources (road traffic or biomass combustion); - document and compare Black Carbon concentration levels at different points in the Hauts-de-France region; - compare BC levels measured in this region to other sites in France; - estimate the distribution of the source of BC emissions (road traffic or biomass combustion); - understand the daily/seasonal/multi-annual variation of BC and its sources; - characterize pollution episodes and identify incident plumes using BC measurements; - understand the impact of the 2020 spring Covid-19 lock-down on BC levels and its sources

Abstract (French)

Les objectifs principaux dans cette etude sont de: - Valider et optimiser la mesure du BC et ses sources principales (trafic ou combustion de biomasse); - Documenter et comparer les niveaux de concentration du Black Carbon sur differents points en region Hauts-de-France; - Comparer les niveaux du BC mesures dans notre region aux autres sites en France; - Estimer la repartition de la source des emissions du BC (trafic ou combustion de biomasse); - Comprendre la variation journaliere/saisonniere/pluriannuelle du BC et ses sources; - Caracteriser les episodes de pollution et identifier les panaches d'incident a l'aide de mesures du BC; - Comprendre l'impact du confinement du printemps 2020 lie au Covid-19 sur les niveaux du BC et ses sources
