Calorimetric investigation of alteration of the electron and phonon spectra of the V-Pt system

Description
The temperature dependences of the magnetic susceptibility and low temperature specific heat of pure vanadium and of vanadium with an admixture of 5 or 7 at.% Pt are measured. On the basis of the data obtained and of the results of previous measurements of deformation of the vanadium photon spectrum on introduction of a Pt impurity it is shown that the cause of the anomalous impurity deformation of the phonon spectrum of vanadium is the alteration of the electronic system of the metal. One manifestation of the alteration is the considerable decrease of the electron state density at the Fermi level which increases with growth of the impurity concentration and is accompanied by a hardening of the phonon spectrum
