Dependence of light yield of scintillation fibres on the refractive index of coating

Description
Straightforward formulae for calculating the dependence of light yield of a fibre used as a detector on the refractive index of coating are derived. The dependence of photoelectron number on the distance between the 106Ru β source and scintillation fibre end is exprimentally determined. The experiments are performed with polystyrene fibres having the SIEhL silicon organic compound coating. A good agreement between the experimental and calculated data is shown
