Electron-positron paircreation and K-shell ionization in relativistic heavy ion collisions
Description
The method of equivalent photons has been applied to calculate the cross section for e+, e--pair creation and K-shell ionization in relativistic heavy-ion collisions with Esub(ion)>=10 GeV/u. For U-U collisions σsup(e+,e-) was found to be typically on the order of 103 - 104b. (author)
