Crystal structure of (BOPDT-TTF)+I5-: C10H8O2I5S8

Description
Crystal structure of a new conducting salt -bis(oxapropylenedithiotetrathiafulvalene)pentaiodide has been studied: sp.gr. C2/c; a=20.253(5), b=8.498(2), c=16.116(3) A, β=117.66(1) deg, Z=4, d=2.84 g/cm3. The structure contains two different types of iodine, linear anion is I3, located in inversion centre, with I-I distances = 2.964(1) A and I2 pairs with I-I distances = 2.764(1) A. The shortest I-I distance between I3 linear anions and I2 couples is 3.383(1) A. At 300 K the salt is a semiconductor (2.5 · 10-5 S x cm-1). 6 refs.; 3 figs.; 2 tabs
