Formulation of a grease from spent bleaching earth, waste cooking oil and fumed silica as additives

Description

The study is to formulate new multi-purpose grease from industrial wastes. In this study we intent to use waste cooking oil and spent bleaching earth as a main ingredients for the grease formulation. Additives such as fumed silica, molybdenum disulphide and other type of additives are introduced to improve the properties of the grease. The best percentage of waste cooking oil, spent bleaching earth and additives added is determined (w/w) during this study to produces the best consistency through penetration test based on NGLI standard. Other properties being determined include drop point, oxidation stability, and oil separation test through ASTM method. From result obtained, some necessary modification and additives addition into spent bleaching earth and waste cooking oil can produce new multi-purpose based grease that can be commercialized.
