Investigation of nuclear shell structure far from stability in the region of 78Ni

Description
Neutron rich nuclei close to shell closures play an important role on recent nuclear structure studies since they allow to search for possible modifications of single-particle energies, thus a possible shell evolution with increasing N/Z ratio. Their high-spin states will be unique observable in order to understand the size and eventually the evolution of the energy gaps far from stability. In such context, the 83As, 82Ge, and 81Ga nuclei located in the 78Ni region have been studied in Legnaro National Laboratory (LNL) and we will present our experimental results on the single-particle structure of these nuclei as well as the evolution of the N = 50 shell gap size.
