Description

An optical dispersion method has been developed determining the CdS/CdSe ratio in CdSxSe1-x mixed crystals from the relationship between position of the isotropic point (birefrigence becomes zero for a definite wavelength at the absorption edge) and chemical composition x. Birefrigence spectra and piezo-optic spectra of samples with x = 0.2, 0.6, and 0.875 give the spectral position of the isotropic point (ip). A curve of wavelength of ip versus x of CdSxSe1-x is evaluated by the least-squares procedure and tested by X-ray fluorescence analysis
