Description
An elasto-plastic analysis was made for a three dimensional Functionally Gradient Materials (FGM) structural component under non steady state condition using a general purpose finite element analysis system 'FINAS' developed by Power Reactor and Nuclear Fuel Development Corporation. Internal thermal stresses generated in the FGM plate exposed in a high heat flux environment are largely influenced by the material constituents and gradient distribution of element. The trial fabrication of FGM is conducted for the constituents from ODS (oxide-dispersion-strengthened) ferritic stainless steel and PSZ (partially stabilized zirconia) by mechanical alloying method. An FGM disk ; 30 mm in diameter and 10 ∼ 25 mm in thickness, with controlled distribution of compositions is successfully fabricated by a vacuum plasma arc sintering method. (author)
