Description
This document gathers pieces of information from around the world and concerning nuclear industry. Among the most relevant are the following ones. The production of the first plasma in the ITER tokamak is expected to take place in 2027. The American government looks for a new site for the disposal of high level radioactive waste after the failure of the Yucca Mountain project. On the Akkuyu site, on the Mediterranean coast, Turkey has launched the construction of its first nuclear power plant. Rosatom will build there four 1200 MWe reactors. Since its foundation modern India has considered nuclear energy as a vital tool for its development. The project for the construction of 6 EPR at the Jaitapur site and the valuable experience of Indian engineers in sodium-cooled reactors (a technology that will be used in 4. generation reactors) has made India an emerging giant of the nuclear world. Saudi Arabia wishes to develop renewable energies and nuclear power for the production of electricity in order to reserve its oil and gas productions to export. (A.C.)
