Plasmid (pKM101)-mediated resistance to UV light and 60Co-gamma radiation in Escherichia coli

  • 1. Orvostudomanyi Egyetem, Debrecen (Hungary)

Description

The drug resistance plasmid pKM101 was originally derived from clinically isolated plasmid, R46, by P22 transduction and serial transfer. The modifying effect of this plasmid on the sensitivity to UV and 60Co-gamma irradiation in rec- mutants were studied. It was shown that E. coli K12 the plasmid pKM101 enhanced bacterial survival after both UV and 60Co-gamma irradiation. These effects proved to be dependent on recA+ genotype but not on the recB+, recC+ or recF+ genotypes. (author)
