Radioactivity levels in fallout around Yangjiang NPP in 2014 to 2016

  • 1. Guangdong Environment Radiation Monitoring Centre, Guangzhou (China)

Description

From 2014 to 2016, radioactivity levels in fallout around Yangjiang NPP have been monitored. Two monitoring sites are in the range of 5 km around the NPP. The measured specific activities of total α, total β and 7Be are in the range of 14-156, 21-206 and 26-1.83 × 103 mBq·m-2·d-1, with averages of 69, 84 and 321 mBq·m-2·d-1, respectively. It shows that the radioactivity levels are lower than those for the control sites, and remain within the background, with no significant change. No man-made radionuclide is found. The radioactivity levels are influenced by weather conditions and change seasonally. The total α and total β radioactivity levels are positively correlated with those of 7Be. (authors)
