Microstructure and recrystallization mechanisms in polycrystalline PbTe specimens

Description

The influence of pressing temperature and dispersion of initial powder on microstructure of polycrystalline samples of PbTe of both conductivity types has been stUdied. It is shown that quantitative characteristics of microstructUre of polycrystalline PbTe samples manufactured by low-temperature pressing (tsub(pr) < 450 deg C) are determined by dispersion of the initial powder; recrystallization in samples in heat treatment proceeds according to ''in situ'' mechanism. Microstructure of samples pressed at tsub(pr) > 600 deg C does not depend on initial powder dispersion and it is determined by temperature and pressure of pressing; recrystallization in the samples proceeds according to the mechanism of secondary, at that, heat treatment after pressing does not change quantitative characteristics of the microstructure
