Description
Volume reduction through incineration and vitrification is used for the processing of radioactive wastes. The CEA is planning a second incineration plant at Cadarache for 2000. CEA is also concerned with matrices and their quality enhancement: substitution of organic to mineral matrices, vitrification of ancient and present wastes, element substitution in crystals (silicon-aluminates, phosphates and titanium or zirconium based crystals), with one or two matrices, ceramics and vitro-ceramics
