Photo-induced reactions of organic compounds with transition element complexes
Description
Results on the use of UO22+ ion as a sensibilizer of the process of liquid phase oxidation of alkylarenes and alkanes by air oxygen are presented. Irradiation of the mentioned hydrocarbons solutions by mercury lamp light in the presence of UO22+ in the air results in the formation of oxidation oxygen-containing products. According to the mechanism suggested photosensibilized particle of UO22+ tears off hydrogen atom of hydrocarbon substrate, the hydrocarbon radical formed interacts with oxygen molecule, forming peroxide, which decomposes to stable oxygen-containing product. The reduced particle of U(5) can be reoxidized by oxygen or peroxide
