Numerical search for a phi4 breather mode
Description
A numerical search for a stable oscillating mode in the phi4 equation similar to one that is known in the sine-Gordon equation has been carried out. Starting with a widely separated soliton and antisoliton traveling toward each other it is observed, after a long period of time (t approx. 2800), that the solitons form a quasistable oscillating state. An interesting, previously unknown structure in the interaction depending on the initial velocity and initial separation is found and studied in detail. 12 references, 14 figures, 2 tables
