Investigation into formation of lithium and barium ethoxoniobates. Polymery of alcoholates

Description
The solubility in the M(OEt)sub(n)-Nb(OEt)sub(5)-EtOH (M=Li, Ba) systems at 20 deg is studied. In the first system crystalline LiNb(OEt)6 formation has been found. Solid phases of the second system are Ba(OEt)2x4EtOH, Ba(OEt)2 and previously unknown crystalline BaNb(OEt)7 (1). Solubility of 1 in alcohol depends on their crystallization conditions and is varied from 2 to 40%. Peculiarities of physicochemical properties of 1 are explained by molecular composition heterogeneity (''coordination polymery''). Formation of Ba[Nb(OEt)6]2 complex (viscous liquid) in solution - is confirmed by the isomolar series method
