Improving the operating reliability of alternators in nuclear power plants
Description
The MSTAB microprocessor protection against loss of stability by the ELIN company is a major innovation of the protective system of large units at nuclear power plants. In particular, the system protects large alternators against loss of dynamic stability and against non-synchronous running. The MSTAB system is described, its protective function is outlined, and results of testing at Czech and Slovak power plants are reported. The MSTAB protecting system has been active at a 220 MW unit of the V-2 nuclear power plant at Jaslovske Bohunice since 1992. (Z.S.). 1 tab., 3 figs., 2 refs
