Measurement of myoglobin by a radioimmunoassay
- 1. Defence Inst. of Physiology and Allied Sciences, Delhi (India)
Description
A heterolo.gous radioimmunoassay for the measurement of myoglobin (Mb) levels in human plasma has been developed. Purified horse Mb was used as an antigen as well as standard. The sensitivity of the assay was 0.5 ng/tube. Plasma Mb levels in 13 normal subjects varied between 6-100 ng/ml with a mean value of 26.3 +- 7.2, SE ng/ml. The mean value of 195 +- 27 ng/ml in patients with myocardial infarction was significantly higher than that of controls. (author)
