Development of fluorescence gamma dosimeters
- 1. Bio-Organic Division, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai (India)
Description
We have developed two fluorescent γ-dosimeters based on BODIPY dyes. In one case, 8-anilino BODIPY was used which showed "off-on" fluorescence under g-exposure with dynamic range of 0-100 Gy. On the other hand, 8-(N,N-dimethyanilino) BODIPY based dosimeter showed ratiometric ''off-on'' fluorescence enhancement applicable in the range of 0–150 Gy with limit of detection (LOD) of 0.5 Gy. These highly sensitive fluorescence dosimeters will be useful for absorbed dose measurement in food irradiation processes. (author)
