New boom for green energy

Brussels is defining objectives on a daily basis. Mainly long-term objectives such as the Lisbon competitiveness strategy. And one of the latest targets is just as ambitious. By 2020, twenty percent of all energy used within Europe must come from renewable sources. Currently, this figure is about 6%. This European goal obviously also applies to Slovakia. How much this will cost Slovakia is still unclear. Brussels has still not defined the level of Slovakia's contribution. However, renewable energy sources are not a new topic. The inflow of euro funds and higher prices for energy produced from these sources has caught the interest of businessmen. The Ministry of Economy justifies the support offered to this area by the need to start up this part of the energy business. Brussels's new energy policy is much more ambitious than the previous one In the past, the 20-percent limit only applied to electricity. But the new policy will apply to all energies - including electricity, heat and fuel. It is expected that the EU will invest around 400 bil. EUR (12 000 bil. Sk) by 2030 into this project. (author)
