Resonant processes between He atoms scattering off Al surfaces

Description

We have studied resonant charge transfer processes occurring when slow He ions scatter off Al surfaces. The static or instantaneous properties of the atom (ion) in from of the surface are treated through a DFT-LD approach. This method allows us to calculate the basic parameters that govern the charge transfer processes. We have calculated both the He*(1s,2s)3S, He*(1s,2s)3P and singlet energy levels, finding important deviations from the electrostatic image-lake interaction at short distances. Dynamical calculations on the resonant ionization of He0 scattering of Al are also reported
