Excitation mechanisms of the 1PG system of N2 in aurorae

Description
A theoretical model is given; quantitative study on efficiency of different channels of excitation bands 1 PG of the system N2 is conducted within the frames of this model. It is shown that the result of collisional decontamination of the term W (W → B) may explain peculiarities of band intensity distribution in the succession Δν=3 under the conditions of electric discharge in N2 and in spectra of aurora. The investigations are conducted within the frames of the model describing energy exchange process only by inelastic collisions of electrons precipitating to the ionosphere with neutrals of ionospheric plasma
