Description
Emission and excitation spectra, luminescence decay kinetics within 0.5-300 K, and photo-thermally stimulated processes of the exciton and defect-related states disintegration were studied for the PbWO4:5% Cd crystal. The peculiarities observed in the luminescence characteristics are explained under the assumption that a strong Cd-doping results not only in the compensation of an existing lead deficiency but also in the appearance of local CdWO4-type distortions of the PbWO4 crystal lattice structure.
