The effects of impurity sizes on the stage I recovery of Pt after thermal- and fast-neutron irradiation
Description
The addition of various quantities of different alloying impurities (Au, Cu, Ni) to pure Pt has a significant influence on the stage I recovery following either fast- or thermal-neutron irradiation at 4.4 K. Results obtained using electrical resistivity measurements during an isochronal annealing program indicate that the retention of defects due to impurity trapping after stage I is related both to the relative size of the impurity atom as well as to the initial induced defect dose. A correlation can also be effectively drawn between results of the two types of neutron irradiation and other methods of irradiation simulations. (orig.)
