Phase composition and magnetic properties of Fe-Cr-Co alloys with molybdenum and silicon additions

  • 1. Moskovskij Inst. Stali i Splavov (USSR)

Description

Phase state of the Fe-30% Cr-23% Co alloy and similar alloys with 3% Mo and 1% Si additions is investigated. X-ray structural and metallographic analyses and also measurements of hardness and saturation magnetization are used. The alloys have been quenched in water from 1300 deg C, then held at the temperatures of 1200-500 deg C (at 100 deg C intervals) and cooled in water. Molybdenum and silicon additions in the quantities mentioned to not affect the alloy phase state. Improvement of magnetic properties in the alloy with molybdenum and silicon might be related to an increase in shape anisotropy of high-magnetic phase at α-solid solution decomposition
