Electrodeposition of uranium and thorium

Creators

  • 1. Cairo Univ., El Mansura (Egypt). Faculty of Science

Description

Cathodic depositions of uranium and thorium were carried out from a number of baths containing the metal salts, and complexing agents. A reducing agent was also present to prevent oxidation of the element. The current density ranged from 50 to 200 mA cmsup(-2). The purity of the deposited metals was better than 99.7%. The mechanism of formation of uranium and thorium is proposed and discussed. (author)
