Surface magnetostriction in nanocrystalline magnets

  • 1. Institute of Physics, Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw (Poland)

Description

A simple approximation of effective magnetostriction of nanocrystalline magnets which takes into account the magnetoelastic interactions developing at the interface of the nanocrystalline grains and the amorphous matrix is proposed. This approximation is applied to the analysis of the existing experimental data of the effective magnetostriction in FeCuNbSiB and FeZrBCu nanocrystalline materials. The concept of the interface magnetostriction contribution in the nanocomposite system is supported by a theoretical model of the surface magnetoelastic properties of an isolated spherical nanoparticle based on the magnetic dipole-dipole interactions.
