Description

Ag-Cu alloy sheathed Bi2Sr2CaCu2Ox superconducting tapes together with Ag-sheathed ones for comparison have been prepared by using powder-in tube method. Mechanically stronger AgCu alloy improves mechanical and superconducting properties of the tape. Critical temperature of the Ag-Cu-sheathed tape appeared to be higher than that of the silver sheathed one. The microstructure observation of both kinds of the tapes by means of scanning electron microscopy showed more aligned structure of the Bi-2212 grains and less amount of secondary phases in the Ag-sheathed tape
