Complete and incomplete fusion in 12C + 93Nb and 16O + 89Y reactions

  • 1. Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Bombay (India). Radiochemistry Div.

Description

The present work was undertaken to investigate the effect of entrance channel mass asymmetry on fusion cross sections. Excitation functions for the radioactive evaporation residues (ER) were measured in 16O + 89Y and 12C + 93Nb. Both the systems give the same compound nucleus 105Ag. The experiments were carried out using BARC-TIFR pelletron facility, Bombay. The cross sections for fifteen radioactive ERs encompassing xn, pxn, axn, 2axn and 3axn channels were measured by recoil catcher technique followed by gamma spectrometry. Theoretical calculations of the cross sections were carried out using the computer code CASCADE. (author). 3 refs., 4 figs
