Recent nuclear structure studies by radioactive ion beams
Description
Development of various types of nuclear reactions using radioactive beams have enabled study of unstable nuclei elucidating new aspects of nuclear structures. These new structures have been observed due to the variables which can now be studied in wide range of values. The article describes several highlights of the studies such as use of radioactive nuclei for production of 10He nuclei outside the drip line, of nuclear radii and density distributions using radioactive beams, followed by halo nuclei, soft dipole excitations, etc. The other aspects discussed are the possible relation between neutron skin and the equation of state of asymmetric nuclear matter, disappearance of magic numbers, and different mechanism that change the shell structure.
