Amino acids in the Yamato carbonaceous chondrite from Antarctica

  • 1. Maryland Univ., College Park (USA). Dept. of Chemistry

Description

Detailed evidence is presented for the presence of amino acids of extraterrestrial origin in the Yamato Antarctic carbonaceous chondrite. Of the fifteen amino acids detected nine are protein and six are non-protein. The individual amino acids have abundances between 34 and < 1 nmol per gm meteorite. Comparative abundance data are given of the exterior versus interior and the unhydrolysed versus hydrolysed portions. (UK)
