Aerial radiometric and magnetic reconnaissance survey of portions of Alabama and Georgia: Rome quadrangle. Final report

Description

The results of a high-sensitivity, aerial, gamma-ray spectrometer and magnetometer survey of the Rome Quadrangle, Alabama and Georgia, are presented. Instrumentation and methods are described in Volume 1 of this final report. This work was done as part of the US Department of Energy National Uranium Resource Evaluation (NURE) Program. Statistical and geological analysis of the radiometric data revealed 35 anomalies worthy of field checking as possible prospects. Nine anomalies coincide with cultural features that may be major contributors to their anomalous values. Eighteen preferred anomalies occur in metamorphic and igneous rocks of late Precambrian to middle Paleozoic age
