The aim of this booklet is to provide a complete and up-to-date collection of the facilities and methods available in different parts of the country for the measurement of alpha and beta activity in water and sewage sludge samples. Methods of sample collection and the determination of radon 222, radium 226, uranium and tritium in water and sewage samples are tabulated. Sources of error and quality control methods are enumerated. Tables of radiochemical decay series and units used are provided. (UK)
