Description

Full text: Nowadays, several studies have been showed the importance of an implant surface treatment aiming to enhance osseointegration. In this study, it was performed an evaluation of adding antibiotics in a Ti-7.5Mo alloy applied in implants. The Ti-7,5Mo experimental alloy was obtained by using a furnace under an argon atmosphere. The ingots were homogenized under a vacuum at 1100 deg C/86.4 ks to eliminate chemical segregations, being cut as worked discs after getting cold. At first samples were immersed in NaOH aqueous solution (5 M) and treated at 450 deg C and then dipped in SBF (Simulation Body Fluid) solution in a shaker for 03 days. The following step was the incorporation of the medication. The samples were evaluated by a Scanning Electron microscopy (SEM), an Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), X-Rays Diffraction Analysis (XRD) and a contact angle. Results have showed that the incorporation of antibiotic was efficient. (author)
