Measurement of total neutron cross sections of 134Cs and 135Cs radionuclides

Description

This paper presents supplemental and more precise information on the neutron resonances of 134Cs and gives data on the total neutron cross sections of 135Cs for the first time. Cross sections of the cesium nuclides were measured on samples of cesium chloride CsCl irradiated in the central channel of a high-flux SM-2 reactor. The yield of 134Cs was determined from variations in the number of 134Ba nuclei accumulated during the exposure of the irradiated sample. Contents of the other nuclides were calculated on the basis of experimental values of the neutron fluence and cross sections recommended by the third edition of BNL-25. The energy dependence of transmission of the irradiated sample was measured. Neutron resonances of 134Cs and 135Cs were determined
