Progress in the study of temperature effects on compacted bentonite

  • 1. CNNC Key Laboratory on Geological Disposal of High-level Radioactive Waste, Beijing Research Institute of Uranium Geology, Beijing (China)

Description

The discussion is commenced by describing the aspects related to the compacted bentonite that are influenced by temperature change. Temperature effects the chemistry of pore water of bentonite. The hydration force changes as effects of the temperature on the content of internal water and external water. Temperature effect on the pore size of bentonite is introduced by the OPHELIE experiment. And the temperature effects on the water retention and swelling behavior of compacted bentonite are described with previous investigations. (authors)
