Magellanic Cloud investigations

Description

Photographic photometry of the LMC blue globular cluster NGC 1854 is presented. The main sequence appears 0.1 redder than the surrounding field population. The cluster contains both blue and red supergiants and stars which fall in the instability strip. The instability strip stars do not appear variable and may be binaries containing a main sequence star and a red supergiant. Difficulties are discussed concerning the determination of the ratio tsub(br). The age spread is found to be quite low and not incompatible with a value of zero. (author)
