The Northeast Utilities occupational radiation exposure records keeping system

  • 1. Northeast Utilities Service Co., Hartford, CT

Description

HELPORE(2) is a second generation in-house centralized computer system that maintains occupational radiation exposure records on individuals who work at the Millstone Station, the Haddam Neck Station, the NU Personnel Dosemetry Laboratory, and the NU Environmental Measurements Laboratory. It also keeps Radiation Work Permit information for the tracking of pocket ion chamber exposures at Millstone and Haddam Neck. ALARA coordinators can track and analyze exposures by job, component, system, etc. The system produces NRC required reports (such as termination letters, the 10CFR20.407 report, etc.) and other output in order to maintain good health physics practices. It operates on an IBM 370 mainframe computer with remote terminals at the sites. The data from the IBM Series/1 minicomputer at the Dosemetry Lab can be transmitted to the IBM 370 to allow automatic updating of personnel TLD badge results in the HELPORE(2) files. The HELPORE(2) system allows multiple users, has full screen, color edit capability, and is efficient in storage and retrieval of data
