The study of separation 107Pd with the extraction chromatography using Ni Resin

Description
The object of study was to test and optimize new method for the separation of 107Pd by Nickel Resin from TrisKem International. 107Pd is one of the declared radionuclides in radioactive waste. The method for the determining of radionuclide 107Pd in model samples was optimized. The sorption capacity of Nickel Resin is 0.5 mg Pd2+ on 0.2 g Nickel Resin. As part of the optimization process the effect of the concentration of Cl- ions on the sorption of Pd2+ on Nickel Resin was studied. A suitable environment for the sorption of Pd2+ on Nickel Resin is the hydrochloric acid in the range of (0.5 - 3) mol·dm-3. The suitable environment for the elution of Pd2+ is the 8 mol·dm-3 HNO3 with the volume 50 ml. The radiochemical separation yields of palladium by AAS with flame atomization 1100 from Perkin Elmer were determined. In the next phase of work the optimization method on the real samples of radioactive waste in the NPP Mochovce and Jaslovske Bohunice will be applied. (authors)
