Wood pellets, a growing sector - Pellets: at the roots of price soaring; Where will tomorrow's pellets come from? The quality of pellets guarantees equipment performance; Wood pellets and forest: false debates and actual stakes
Description
A first article discusses the reasons of the strong increase of wood pellets in France (it has doubled between 2021 and 2022). Whereas scenarios predict a massive increase of the use of pellets, a second article discusses the possible evolutions of their origins (use of hardwoods, development of 'agro-pellets'). A map of France indicates locations and quantities of productions, and a graph indicates the evolution of pellet imports and their origins. In an interview a manager of the Poujoulat company outlines the importance of pellet quality, and evokes the difference between wood pellets and agro-pellets. A last article discusses the situation of the French forest (its surface is increasing), notices that the development of pellets has avoided forest samplings, outlines the attention to be paid to other types of wood-energy, and evokes the climate threat on forest
