Description
The high potential hazard of nuclear engineering facilities is related to the possible escape of considerable amounts of radionuclides into the environment in the case of an accident. The accident at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) was the worst accident in the history of nuclear engineering, both with respect to the quantities of released radioactive materials and the extent of the contaminated area. Studies conducted in the contaminated regions can be used in the development of a methodology for forecasting environmental contamination and its consequences under various nuclear accident scenarios
