The 11-year variation of galactic cosmic rays has been calculated on the basis of the cosmic ray density distribution in the interplanetary space. At the distance of 1 a.u. from the Sun in the plane of the solar equator the variation under investigation is asymmetric about the maximum for 1965. The expected change of the 11-year variation amplitude is presented as a function of distance from the Sun and heliolatitude. At the distance of 2-5 a.u. from the Sun the 11-year variation amplitude sharply decreases which is acounted for by the transition of anisotropic diffusion into an isotropic one. The asymmetry of a change of the 11-year variation amplitude is connected with the corresponding asymmetry in the solar activity. Theoretical calculations agree with an experiment
