Myocardial uptake and elimination half times of 17-123-I-heptadecanoic acid in patients with early stage of congestive cardiomyopathy

  • 1. Research Center Juelich (Germany, F.R.)
  • 2. Univesity of Duesseldorf (Germany, F.R.)

Description

The data indicate that both uptake and elimination of fatty acids are disturbed in patients with congestive cardiomyopathy (COCM). These changes can be recognized by a discordance between pattern of accumulation defects and that of regional changes of I-123-HA turnover in the myocardium. Thus I-123-HA is a highly sensitive radiopharmaceutical agent in the diagnosis of COCM even in the early stage of this disease
