Excitation test and magnetic field measurement of the superconducting ring cyclotron

  • 1. RIKEN, Nishina Center for Accelerator-Based Science, Wako, Saitama (Japan)

Description

Construction of the superconducting sector magnets for the SRC were completed in September 2005. After cooling down for one month, excitation of the superconducting main coils and trim coils succeeded at the nominal currents without quench. According to the measurement of the magnetic force acting on the coils during the excitation, stresses of the thermal insulating supports were within design values. Magnetic field measurements were carried out for two months to acquire the data for making the isochronous magnetic fields and the data of the magnetic perturbation from the beam injection and extraction elements.
