Description

A description is given of a test program to provide elastic-plastic-creep structural test data for comparison with inelastic analysis predictions, and to demonstrate the capabilities of high-temperature capacitive strain gages as long-term stable strain-measuring devices. The test specimen used was a shear-lag structure consisting of a thin, square, stainless-steel plate loaded in its plane through tapered stiffeners. A shear-lag specimen was instrumented with ten capacitive strain gages, heated to 11000F and subjected to long-term tensile and compressive loads. Capacitive strain gage data from the long-term test are presented and discussed. (U.S.)
