Description

This popular article describes the latest research being done by the National Research Council of Canada on laser-produced plasma as part of the goal to attain thermonuclear (fusion) reactions. The COCO-II is focused on a small target which implodes and releases a plasma which is then confined and studied during the brief instant. Work on more advanced systems is introduced as a possible route to future fusion techology. (TI)
